Wake Up to Your Makeup Remover

There are few things more important to a healthy skincare routine than removing your makeup every night before you go to bed.  It is crucial for the skin to naturally renew itself while you sleep and prevent early aging.

Making sure you choose the right makeup remover is nearly as important. You don’t just want a makeup remover, you want something that also takes care of your skin.

Different skin types benefit from different ingredients and most makeup removers are harmless for your skin, EXCEPT for alcohol-based removers. These you really want to avoid. While they are effective - as the alcohol will easily break down even the thickest layer of makeup - exposing your skin to this on a regular basis can dry it out and cause longterm damage.

Ingredients matter and natural ingredients are your best bet. Natural ingredients such as coconut oil.

The benefits of coconut oil for the skin are well reported, but what many don't realise is that it is not only effective in cleansing and hydrating the skin, it works as a natural makeup remover as well.

In an article on beauty website, Byrdie, they consulted with two dermatologists to set the facts straight on coconut oil as a makeup remover.

Anthony Youn, MD, America’s Holistic Plastic Surgeon, and Carl Thornfeldt, MD, founder of Epionce Skincare, both agreed that coconut oil is an effective and healthy makeup remover, but that it should be organic and of top quality.

“I recommend that you only use purified, cold-pressed coconut oil in liquid form,” Thornfeldt said.

Enter Mailelani’s Gentle Facial Cleanser & Natural Make Up Remover. Deeply nourishing, this gentle cleanser helps remove daily impurities and makeup, while keeping your face and neck smooth and moisturised.

No cotton pads or abrasive washcloths are needed. Simply rub gently onto dry skin, paying special attention to heavy eye makeup (but take care!).

Once your makeup has been sufficiently melted away, rinse face with warm water and pat dry.
